We've written a 'job advert' to tell you what volunteering as a Leader at the Scout Group is all about and hope you will consider joining us.

  • Adult volunteers can choose to help and lead activities for one of our Beaver Colonies, Cub Packs or Scout Troop - as an Occasional Helper, Section Assistant or Section Assistant Leader or Section Leader (there are LOTS of options)
  • Then as part of the Leader team, plan and deliver an exciting, interesting balanced programme to the boys and girls that gives them the opportunity to have fun and learn new skills while taking part in many different types of activities - including lots of adventures, challenges, trips, visits, visitors and possibly even the occasional weekend camp.
  • Providing 'everyday adventure' is what we do!
  • Volunteering looks great on your CV and a recent impact report told us that 80% of external organisations said that Scouting has benefited their organisation.
  • Volunteering is both fun and rewarding, allowing you to feel empowered and giving you a sense of pride.
  • Scouting aims to have a real and positive impact on the lives of our young people, our volunteers and our local community.
  • No Experience is required.

adults and ScoutsAnd did you know...?

  • You'd be joining over 100,000 other adult volunteering in UK Scouting right now including HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, Bear Grylls, Julia Bradbury, Steve Backshall, Ellie Simmonds, Chris Evans and Helen Glover – and that includes over 3,182 adults in Hertfordshire alone who support nearly 17,000 boys and girls in our County with Scouting activities every week.
  • The number of volunteers working for Scouting is bigger than the combined workforces of the BBC (24,000) and McDonald's (67,000) put together.
Volunteering in Scouting can provide opportunities for travel and adventures throughout the UK and internationally – like the World Scout Jamboree in Japan 2015
  • Adults volunteers must be aged 18 or older. Young people aged 14 to 18 can still help us by volunteering as a Young Leader.
  • A criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be required.
